Tournament Day Info

Registration (7:00 am – 8:00 am) [ABL 130]

  1. Arrive to the Anderson Biological Laboratories Room #130 (ABL 130) for check-in

  2. Please check in at the table, providing name of school and names of team(s)

  3. We will confirm which teams will require Make-Ups for events. After this time, no teams will be allowed to schedule any last-minute makeups for any events.

  4. Afterwards, you can head to your home room! (Please refer to “Teams and Home Rooms” tab of the 2024 Regionals Tournament Schedule spreadsheet to determine what Home Room # for your teams)

  5. Registration will end exactly at 8:00 am, please arrive in advance to ensure you have been registered before events begin.

  6. If you have an impound event, please instruct your team to arrive at the Event’s scheduled room number during the impound time-slot (8:00 am – 8:30 am)

  • Administration Home Base will be located in Baker Hall Room #102

    • You may also email Hannah Li (hxl1@rice.edu), Emily Liu (eyl6@rice.edu) or Aishani Gargapati (asg10@rice.edu) for any tournament related questions.

    • Rice Science Olympiad Volunteers will be wearing t-shirts

  • Please reference the “Annotated Map” sheet on the 2024 Regionals Tournament Schedule spreadsheet to clarify room abbreviations

  • Make-Up Exams will take place in DBH 1070.

  • The Awards Ceremony will begin at 5:30pm, and will be located in the Keck Hall.

Awards Ceremony (5:30pm – 8:00pm)

  • Please arrive at Keck Hall 100 (KCK 100) by 5:30pm.

  • Presentation from two guest speakers. 

    • Rice Science Olympiad Sponsor: Dr. Richard Gordon, W. M. Keck Foundation Professor in Geophysics, Earth, Environmental and Planetary Sciences

    • Dr. Yousif Shamoo, Ralph and Dorothy Looney Professor of BioSciences

  • Award Presentation will begin 6:30 pm 

  • Awards Ceremony will also be streamed via Youtube Live.

  • Ceremony will conclude by 8:00pm.

  • Exams and Keys will be released after the tournament
